Financing for every flight path! Stratus Financial & Dependable Aviation offer Financing for everything from Individual Licenses / Ratings to Career Pilot Training Programs. From the time you apply to having funds on your training account taking an average of 14 days or less, you can start training without delay. Additionally, all Stratus loans are designed to cover other fees that would normally come out of pocket, such as check ride fees and FAA written exams costs! Stratus Financial also offers deferred payment options for select packages and programs.
Stratus bases their borrower and co-borrower's (if applicable) capacity for a loan on the following criteria:
Stratus will consider 2 of those 3 total factors depending on the borrower's financial capacity. Additionally, they may examine other things like a borrower's DTI or Debt-to-Income Ratio.
No, you may repay your loan early in whole or in part without any penalty.
No, submitting an application will not negatively impact your or your co-borrower's (if applicable) credit score, as Stratus only conducts a soft pull on your credit.
Stratus performs initial underwriting within 1-2 hours. Conditional approvals will occur within one (1) business day. If all documents required are submitted to Stratus, they process and prepare the final loan documents within one (1) day. They then fund the loan within three (3) business days after all parties have signed the loan documents.
When you receive an approval and your funds are released, they will be sent directly from Stratus to your chosen flight training provider. Because of this you won't ever have to worry about lack of funds to continue training. This release of funds will occur over one or several disbursement periods based on your loan package / program size. Larger loan amounts will be split up into multiple disbursements. These disbursements are made based off of total flight time / training conducted and are not released to the training provider until a student has been proven to have reached set hour-based training milestones. Any leftover / unused funds from your loan package / program are required to be returned to Stratus by your training provider unless otherwise directed.

Nothing beats being able to self fund your flight training, however this isn't a reality for everyone who wishes to dive into aviation. Additionally, not everyone wants or needs to finance career training / multiple licenses or ratings at once. Not all financing is created equal, and that's a good thing! With our alternative financing methods such as AOPA Finance clients can finance as much or as little as needed to achieve one or more ratings. AOPA's flight training loan is not a typical student loan. It is a line of credit that can be used for any flight training school or program. You can use the funds to pay the school directly as you make your way from private pilot to instrument pilot and beyond.
